Preparing for the meeting

What to bring to your first consultation

The first meeting is most productive when the relevant documents are gathered in advance. Depending on the subject, these usually include:

  • Passport, and your residence permit card if you have one
  • Any statement of claim, payment order, judgment, notice or administrative decision served on you, together with the date of service
  • Contracts, title deeds, invoices and other documents related to the dispute
  • Correspondence, emails and screenshots of messages between the parties
  • Foreign documents with apostille and, if available, their Turkish translations
  • A short chronological summary of the events
Note the date of service

Many time limits under Turkish law, such as objections to payment orders, appeals and administrative lawsuits, start from the date a document is served on you. Keeping that date is essential to calculating the deadline correctly. Some common time limits are summarised on our home page.

For general information, see our practice area guides or read about the firm.

Frequently asked questions

Contact and appointments

Can I meet the lawyer online?

Yes. For clients abroad or outside Istanbul, the first consultation and later meetings can be held by video call. Please indicate your time zone in your message; office hours are Monday to Saturday, 09:00–18:00 Istanbul time (UTC+3).

I have an urgent matter with a deadline. What should I do?

If you have been served with a payment order, statement of claim, judgment or administrative decision and a time limit is running, please call +90 534 820 30 21 directly instead of using the form. Sending a message through the form or by email does not by itself create an attorney-client relationship and does not stop statutory time limits.

How is the information I send through the form protected?

The information you submit is processed only to respond to your request, in line with the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 and the professional secrecy duty in Article 36 of the Attorneys Act. It is not shared with third parties for marketing. Please avoid sharing sensitive data such as health information or criminal records in your first message; these can be discussed in the meeting if needed.

How can I give a power of attorney from abroad?

There are two common ways: having the power of attorney drawn up at the Turkish consulate in your country, or before a local notary and then obtaining an apostille if your country is a party to the 1961 Hague Apostille Convention. A power of attorney in a foreign language must be translated into Turkish by a sworn translator and notarised in Turkey. The specific powers (for example, selling property, filing a lawsuit or collecting money) must be stated expressly, and for land registry transactions the document must include your photograph. Requirements change from time to time, so check the current rules before signing.

How do I get to the office?

The office is on İncirli Avenue in the Kartaltepe neighbourhood of Bakırköy. The Bakırköy-İncirli station of the M1A metro line (Yenikapı–Atatürk Airport) is in the same neighbourhood, and the İncirli stop of the Metrobus line on the E-5 (D-100) highway also serves the area. Use the Get directions link for an up-to-date route.
